A group of twenty-one young people successfully completed the three-year Youth.Inc programme, which provides training in a range of skills aimed at helping participants build self-confidence, become more independent and better understand their own potential.
Aġenzija Żgħażagħ has been organising programmes of this nature for around 13 years, with approximately 80 young people currently participating in these programmes.
Through this programme, the young participants began developing basic skills to help them integrate more effectively in society. Among other activities, they learned basic sports skills and were given the opportunity to express themselves through drama.
Furthermore, the young people had the opportunity to enter and experience the world of work, providing them with valuable experience that will help them become increasingly independent in the future.
At the end of this year’s programme, the Minister for Youth, Wellbeing and the Implementation of the Electoral Programme, Omar Farrugia, presented certificates of participation to the young people who took part.
During his speech at the event, the Minister thanked the entire team that worked on the Youth.Inc project, those working directly with the participating young people, the staff who supported the project, as well as the employers and programme partners. He also thanked the parents and families of the participating young people for their encouragement and support.
In a comment, Minister Farrugia said that the greatest satisfaction comes from seeing young people succeed.
“Young people who, through Youth.Inc, learn new skills, gain new experiences and become part of a new community together with their peers. In this way, we are building strong young people with a strong future for themselves and their families,” the Minister stated.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Inclusion, Transition and Employment section within the agency, Deborah Bonnici, said that the Youth.Inc programme provides an opportunity for young people aged 16 and over “to fully develop their skills on a personal and social level, enabling them to live a better quality of life and seize opportunities for a better future within the society around them.”
One of the highlights of the evening was the story of a Community Police Officer, who had himself attended this programme several years ago and has now achieved his dream of becoming a police officer.
